For immediate release:
Minneapolis-based musician, educator, and singer/songwriter Tzipporah just released her first full-length album, Tales of the Diaspora, this past Chanukah! Tales of the Diaspora is the brainchild of many months of introspection resulting from the pandemic. It is now available on all streaming and digital distribution platforms! Tzipporah knew she wanted to create a full length album that combined her folk-rock sensibilities with the Jewish music and creative themes of her roots.
“Part of it was for myself, to help me process some of the experiences I had growing up and figure out where I stand in the Jewish community as a whole. Another part of it was motivated by this desire to uplift the community at a time when antisemitic discourse and antisemitic violence against our communities keeps getting worse. It was a way for me to tell my fellow Jews it’s okay to be proud of who we are as a people, where it is we come from, and what we’ve been through because that’s part of what makes us beautiful. My hope is that someone listening will resonate with some of the things I am saying and will feel seen and a little less alone,” Tzipporah says.
To celebrate this milestone, Tzipporah is throwing a release show!
When: January 21, 2023
Doors will open at 7:30pm
Music begins at 8pm
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the show.
Tzipporah's Jewishly-influenced blend of folk-rock will be sharing the stage with local klezmer powerhouse Sarah Larsson of The Nightingale Trio and The Rimon MN Jewish Arts Guide founder David Harris' talented Sephardic-Jewish music ensemble, Voices of Sepharad. The musicians in her backup band will include Philadelphia-based producer and musician GIOIA, local bluegrass legend David Robinson, multi-instrumentalist Izzy Buckner of Ungrateful Little String Band, and local klezmer violinist Daniel Lentz. Ahead of the show, Tzipporah has launched a crowd-funding campaign to ensure all the amazing musicians involved in the show receive a stipend for their artistry. Tzipporah says “the music will be very Jewish but you do not have to be Jewish to come and enjoy the show!”
